VTFC Now Offers Ergonomic On-Site Ergonomic Assessments

Erin Goff, DPT, has recently launched the VTFC Ergonomics program.  Erin received her Ergonomics Certification in 2009 and has made an immediate impact in the local community with custom on-site ergonomic assessments in the workplace.  Erin commented, " I have found ergonomic assessments to be particularly helpful to those individuals that have plateaued in their physical therapy programs and spend many hours in working positions.  Without realizing it many people keep their bodies in positions all day that overload and challenge the body.  These poor ergonomic positions can cause pain alone and will slow or halt healing for those returning to work with some degree of discomfort or pain following an injury."

VTFC's Michael McMurray guest lecturer for Shenandoah University’s Physical Therapy Program

As part of the physical therapy education at Shenandoah University, the students in their final year take an advanced topics course in which area clinicians serve as guest lecturers for various topics. This fall Michael McMurray will be serving as one of those lecturers and presenting a course entitled “Introduction to the AAOMPT and Fellowship Process and Manipulation of the Spine and Extremities”. This course will introduce the students to multiple manual techniques for the spine and extremities as well as use case studies to encourage critical thinking. Mike will also discuss his experiences during his manual therapy fellowship and the benefits of joining the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT).

What makes VTFC really different is the depth and breadth of knowledge and physical therapy skills of the physical therapists.  My physical therapist at VTFC  provided detailed and informative explanations of my problem areas and solutions in language that was understandable to me. The excellent therapy has enabled me to recover from spinal surgery in record time.  I feel that the therapy provided at VTFC was far superior to the PT clinics I attended previously.  It was superior based on the quality of PT, friendliness of the staff, and cleanliness of the clinic. I have already made several referrals to friends and family to be sure to go to VTFC for their physical therapy needs.
