Richard has served as co-clinic director for The Virginia Therapy and Fitness Center since its inception in 2004. He has been practicing physical therapy since 1998, working with a variety of orthopaedic, neurologic and pediatric conditions. His degrees in sports medicine and physical therapy have allowed him to work with athletes from the high school and collegiate levels to professionals, including Olympic athletes, the Washington Redskins, NASCAR and the LPGA.

Larry has served as co-clinic director for The Virginia Therapy and Fitness Center since its inception in 2004. He has worked in outpatient physical therapy settings since 1992. His experience has spanned the outpatient orthopaedic clinical setting to on-field athletic training coverage. He has provided injury prevention programs and physical therapy for all levels of athletes including local sports teams and professional athletes, including the Washington Redskins and the U.S. Men’s World Cup Soccer Team. Larry currently instructs as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Shenandoah University’s Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program and also with the North American Institute of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy.
In addition to treating complex spinal and orthopaedic injuries, Larry also treats patients that suffer from dizziness and balance disorders, also known as Vestibular Rehabilitation. He currently is a contributing author and editorial staff member for The Spinal Research Foundation Journal. Larry is also is the President and a founding member of the Mid-Atlantic Physical Therapy Associates, LLP, an organization dedicated to the advancement of orthopedic manual therapy by providing educational seminars and resources for physical therapists.

Kevin joined The Virginia Therapy and Fitness Center in 2005 and has been practicing physical therapy in the outpatient setting since 2002. Kevin is experienced in treating complex orthopaedic pathologies of the spine and extremities, sports-medicine injuries, chronic pain, neurologic disorders, and post-surgical rehabilitation. In his prior experience, he provided clinical education to physical therapy students and continues to be actively involved in physical therapy clinical education at VTFC. Kevin leads VTFC’s Aquatic Therapy program, promoting tissue healing and restoring pain-free mobility in post-surgical and acutely painful patients.

Prior to joining The Virginia Therapy and Fitness Center team in 2008, Michael was employed with an orthopaedic physical therapy practice for six years, and for three of those years he served as clinic director. Michael’s physical therapy experience is with a diverse patient population ranging from the athlete to geriatric patient, with varying diagnoses.
Michael has undergone advanced fellowship training in orthopaedic manual physical therapy and has achieved the designation as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapy. A "Fellow" is a physical therapist who has demonstrated advanced clinical, analytical and hands-on skills in the treatment of orthopaedic disorders.

Johanna joined The Virginia Therapy and Fitness Center in 2006 following her full-time physical therapy internship through Shenandoah University. It was during her internship that the VTFC staff identified Johanna as a stand-out due to her excellent clinical and interpersonal skills, commitment, trainability, and knowledge. Johanna has quickly progressed through Level I and II of the manual therapy continuing education curriculum and has taken a particular interest in post-partum health for moms. Specialized training in this area enables her to lead an ongoing series of interactive and educational classes for moms seeking to restore form and function after pregnancy.

Carey joined The Virginia Therapy and Fitness Center in 2005 and has been practicing physical therapy since 1998. Prior to joining the VTFC team, Carey was the clinic manager of an orthopaedic physical therapy practice for five years. In that position, she was active in organizing continuing education for fellow physical therapists and served as a clinical instructor for physical therapy students. From 2000-2005, Carey served as adjunct and clinical faculty at Marymount University’s Physical Therapy Program. In 2006, Carey became a Board Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist.
Carey has a special interest in the biomechanics of the body and the study of movement as they relate to injury and prevention. She has studied custom foot orthotic application diligently and has great experience in evaluation and prescription from the average individual to the high level athlete.

Erin joined The Virginia Therapy and Fitness Center in 2008 after completion of her full-time internship requirement for her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Shenandoah University. She then quickly received her Certified Ergonomics Assessment Specialist (CEAS) certification through the Back School of Atlanta. Specialized training in this area enables her to observe patients in their working environment to make postural and workspace corrections that will minimize their pain and allow them to function at their highest capacity.

Kur joined The Virginia Therapy & Fitness Center in 2009 and has been practicing physical therapy since 2005. Prior to joining the VTFC team Kur was the clinic director for an orthopedic physical therapy practice in Washington, DC. Kur has experience treating patients with chronic pain syndromes to post-operative surgical spinal and post-surgical extremity surgeries. His primary focus is in the outpatient orthopedic setting and athletic population. Kur treats athletes and patients of all levels, from weekend warriors to professional athletes. His treatment techniques stem from his competency with manual therapy techniques and advancing his knowledge through continuing education.
