Treatment

Patient Philosophy

Virginia Therapy and Fitness Center believes a physical therapist should always incorporate a “hands-on” manual therapy approach to treating patients. We believe that our role is to diagnose and treat our patients through a combination of manual therapy and exercise. Our physical therapists have completed extensive manual therapy training and can identify dysfunctional joints that are not moving normally. At VTFC we diagnose by listening to our patients, observing how our patients move, and assessing the state of our patients’ musculoskeletal and neuromuscular systems. Following the examination, our physical therapists will develop a treatment plan that is tailored to each patient’s needs.

A state of good physical health requires normal interaction between our skeletal, nervous, muscular, and cardiopulmonary systems. When these systems function together they provide shock absorption and flexibility, promote nutrition and generate strength and power. Physical therapists at VTFC search for dysfunction within these systems that may lead to poor force attenuation or structural breakdown. Once these faults have been identified we develop and implement treatment plans that are specific to our patient’s need. Our plan of care will always include a combination of “hands-on” therapy and therapeutic exercise.

Physical therapists at Virginia Therapy and Fitness Center are considered experts in pathological movement and exercise. They not only play an active role in treatment of disease and impairment, but also promote prevention within the community. VTFC’s Fitness Center, pilates, and yoga classes not only help their patients recover from injury, but also prevent future injuries from occurring.

Treatment Model

At Virginia Therapy and Fitness Center you will have the unique experience of being treated one-on-one by the same physical therapist for your initial evaluation and follow up physical therapy treatments. Each visit is approximately one hour and will include a combination of hands-on manual therapy and exercise specifically tailored to your needs. Virginia Therapy and Fitness Center does not utilize PT aides or assistants to ensure the highest quality of service each visit.

In order to maintain our high level of care, VTFC practices as an out-of network provider with all insurances. The billing department at Virginia Therapy and Fitness Center is available M-F 8am-5pm to help with insurance questions, payments options, and scheduling.

Although more expensive than other physical therapy clinics, the experience is like no other. Patients that have experienced physical therapy at other clinics frequently remark that Virginia Therapy and Fitness Center is worth the additional expense to receive the highest quality of care in the greater Washington, DC Metropolitan area.

The one-on-one treatment I received was fantastic.  I think the one-on-one care made all the difference and allowed me to progress much faster.
