John Fainsan PT, DPT, MS, OCS, MTC, CSCS, CDN
Physical Therapist
John has been a practicing physical therapist for over 20 years. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Ithaca College in 2001 with a B.S. in Clinical Science. He earned a M.S. in Physical Therapy in 2002 from Ithaca College. He earned his transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy in 2022 from Shenandoah University. He has been mentored by leaders in the field of orthopedic physical therapy. He treats back and neck pain, shoulder injuries, knee pain, ankle injuries, post operative patients, chronic pain, and other complex orthopedic cases. He has treated athletes of all levels, outdoor recreationists, and weekend warriors. He uses manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, patient education and other modalities to solve orthopedic problems.
He is a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. He also holds certifications in manual therapy (University of St. Augustine), strength and conditioning (National Strength and Conditioning Association), and dry needling (Institute of Advanced Musculoskeletal Treatments). He serves as an adjunct faculty member for Shenandoah University’s entry level physical therapy program. He has a special interest in dry needling and is a lead instructor for dry needling with the Institute of Advanced Musculoskeletal Treatments. He also has an interest in regional interdependence, interconnections, and relationships between different regions of the body and how they can affect each other. John believes that physical therapy can create the proper environment to maximize the human body’s healing potential. John has a passion for helping his clients improve their function and giving back to the profession of physical therapy through teaching.
John is a former resident of both New York and Colorado. He now resides in Northern Virginia with his wife and 2 children.

What are some of your hobbies?
I am a jiu jitsu practitioner, a world traveler, and courageous father of 2 boys.

Any trip where I get to eat exotic foods. I love learning about other cultures through food.
